How Can I Get Rid Of Acne Without Drying My Skin

Acne is a condition that affects many people from time to time, particularly young adults. The symptoms of acne are raised, sore, red areas on the skin and pustules, often known as zits, spots or pimples, as well as smaller whiteheads and blackheads. Acne can occur anywhere on the body, but in most cases it affects the face, chest, neck and back. As well as being unsightly and embarrassing, acne can also be painful, and so understandably acne sufferers are always keen to find a cure.

Unfortunately, some remedies that help with the acne do have other negative effects on the skin.
Acne is caused by several factors. Firstly, the over production of a natural oil produced within the skin’s hair follicles known as sebum.

When too much sebum is produced and drained onto the skin’s surface, the skin can appear greasy and shiny. If this over production occurs when pores are blocked, bacteria begin to grow inside the pores, causing whiteheads and blackheads – this is non-inflammatory acne. If these blemishes are caused to rupture, either by themselves or because the skin has been squeezed, scratched or picked at, then the sore, red areas of inflammatory acne appear, and pustules or pimples form as white blood cells gather inside the blemish to try and force it to heal.

Because a major factor in the formation of acne is sebum, many acne remedies are highly astringent, and designed to dry out the skin and the spots. While this can help control the acne, it can leave skin feeling unpleasantly tight, and can even dry the skin out too much, leading to flaky, dehydrated patches. Spots that heal by being “dried out” are also more likely to leave scars than those that heal naturally.

To avoid this, it is better to use an acne remedy that works in balance with the skin’s own natural chemistry, rather than battling against it. One range of products that does this very well is called Exposed.

Exposed is unlike traditional acne remedies in that it takes a holistic approach to the problem of acne, rather than tackling just one of the factors, i.e. the over production of sebum. This means that rather than simply drying out the sebum in your skin, which at healthy levels is actually needed, it addresses all of the contributing factors that cause your acne.

It manages sebum production kindly, but also keeps your pores clear and reduces the amount of the bacteria that cause acne present in your skin. It also soothes the associated soreness and heals existing spots naturally without drying them out. Exposed also reduces the scarring left behind once the acne itself has been cured.
